Why do people have a problem with the term white Hispanic, which it's perfectly tangible. I heard people always attacking the media for describing George Zimmerman as white. I know Zimmerman isn't white, but mixed, but even then there are a lot of people who can be called white Hispanics like Charley Sheen, Cameron Diaz, and even Viggo Mortasen. while there are also many people who can be called black Hispanics like Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Davis Jr. Roberto Clemente, Lloyd Banks from G-Unit, ect. None of these have have to be mixed with African Americans to be black or be mixed with white Americans to be white. Hispanic isn't a race its a linguistic affinity of people of various races, nationalities, cultures. Hispanic is term applied to the people that were colonized by the Spanish Empire. Spain conquered nations in North and South America, the South Pacific, Europe, Africa and Asia. Spaniards are white and their country is in Europe. Spain had dominions over parts of Italy, sections of France, the Spanish Netherlands, Switzerland. In Africa it had possessions in Spanish Morocco, Southern Sahara, and Equatorial New Guinea. In the Americas it had most of what is half of the United States, up to Vancouver, Canada, the American Southwest, Mexico, Central American nations, South America, A lot of Caribbean Islands like Cuba and Puerto Rico. In the South Pacific is it had Guam, Marshall Islands, the Philippines, the Mariana Islands etc. Later on when the Spanish and Portuguese crowns were unified, Spain became ruler of the Portuguese possessions as well like Brazil, Macau in China, Nagasaki in Japan, West Papua, North Taiwan. When the Spanish Empire crumbled a lot of Nations and peoples kept Spanish influenced and others didn't, So Hispanics are those who kept a heavily Spanish influence. These are the people that today ID with the term Hispanic as you can see it can be people of many races, nationalities and cultures. Googled " Hispanic" and then the "Spanish Empire" and you will understand better!Mexican are a mixed race. Mexico was the heartland of Aztec Indian, The Spanish conquered the Aztecs and forced them to adopt Spanish dress, customs, language and religion. Furthermore when the Spanish conquered Mexico they raped a lot of women and forced many Indian women to marry Spanish men. Mexicans therefore are part Indian and part European. When Mexicans say brown power they are being proud of their indigenous heritage not of Spanish heritage. Spain is in Europe. Learn some geography! Hispanics are not a race, neither is the term Latino 11 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. I myself have both Indian and European blood in me. But me being brown doesn't make me Hispanic. What makes me Hispanic is that we have entirely adopted Spanish culture which a White European culture.... Read More »
